Bill Whittle: Election 2012

Posted by

What can America expect in the final stretch of the 2012 election cycle? Bill Whittle tells you what you will see and hear from the Romney/Ryan ticket, and from the Obama/Biden ticket. Will we hear an honest debate about the economy, or a dishonest debate about social issues like abortion?

The City’s SPU Acquisition Shell Game

Posted by

Pay close attention because this pertains to a measure that will be on the ballot for the November election.

The City of Shoreline has been playing fast and loose with their City Council Meeting Agenda Planner. Click to enlarge the table above to see how many changes have been made since April to upcoming meetings that appear related to the City’s efforts to acquire the Seattle Public Utility’s (SPU’s) drinking water system. The City does not make a history of changes to its Agenda Planner available to the public, so the SPU shell game would not be obvious to an infrequent visitor to the City’s website.

So why all the changes? Is it deliberate deception or mere incompetence? One thing is certain: The City would have you believe they know all there is to know to conclude that acquiring the utility would be a good thing. They have never jumped around on that the way they have with the Council’s Agenda.

You can look forward to a barage of campaigning this summer and fall to convince you they know what they are doing up at City Hall. But do they?

Be sure to check out President Obama’s call for action at the Shoreline Precinct Caucuses. It is quite a moving speech. (Give it time to load).

Never on Sunday

Posted by

The Democratic Precinct Caucuses are being held today at 1:00pm. In Shoreline, precincts west of I-5 will convene at Meridian Park Elementary School, those east of I-5 at Shorecrest High School.  They expect a 75% lower turnout than they had in 2008.

Two things most Republicans would never do:

  1. Hold their Caucuses on a Sunday.
  2. Hold their Caucuses on the weekend before Tax Day.

Two things most Democrats would never do:

  1. Hold their Caucuses in a church.
  2. Worry about income taxes.

Time for Apprentice Activists to Step Up to the Master Level

Posted by

The past two years have seen a rise in what I call the “apprentice activist.” I was one of them. I was not involved in politics prior to 2008 other than to vote in elections. But in 2009 I “woke up” and attended a tax day Tea Party in downtown Seattle (thank you, Keli Carender!) and also joined other similar-minded activists outside Jay Inslee’s office and near Overlake Hospital in Bellevue, protesting Obamacare. I then stepped up a bit and actually helped promote additional protests at Northgate, Mercer Island, Seattle, and Olympia. I felt pretty good about myself – I had made intelligently-worded signs mocking our current politicians and their outlandish legislation, took time out of my day to attend Tea Parties and sign-waving protests, and yelled, “No new taxes!” and “Stop Obamacare!” in unison with thousands of other Conservatives and Constitutionalists throughout the Puget Sound.

Become an Election Observer

From Mino at PSCU:

We’ve witnessed the failure of this system firsthand here in Washington State in the 2004 governor’s race and other close elections. Our Secretary of State continues to fight the Freedom Foundation’s attempts to make voter rolls more secure and in so doing has allowed underage and felon voters to cast their ballots in past elections. We’ve even heard a story about a breakdown in the election system in Minnesota as recent as yesterday (FOX News – Felons Voting Illegally May Have Put Franken Over the Top in Minnesota, Study Finds).
