Property rights victory! – Alabama gives Agenda 21 the boot

Posted by

The US uprising against Agenda 21 continues. We in Washington State face strong opposition, but let us take encouragement from the successes of our brethren in other states. The New American reports this month, Alabama Adopts First Official State Ban on UN Agenda 21. The synopsis of their state’s SB 477 states:

“Under existing law, the state, subject to certain federal laws or rules, has the right to develop its environmental and developmental policies. This bill would prohibit the State of Alabama and its political subdivisions from adopting and developing environmental and developmental policies that, without due process, would infringe or restrict the private property rights of the owner of the property.”

Way to go, Alabama!

Check out Jane Jacobs on the nature of economies.”The New Urbanists want to have lively centers in the places that they develop, where people run into each other doing errands and that sort of thing. And yet, from what I’ve seen of their plans and the places they have built, they don’t seem to have a sense of the anatomy of these hearts, these centers. They’ve placed them as if they were shopping centers. They don’t connect.”  –Jane Jacobs (1916-2006), author of The Death and Life of Great American Cities.

Stunt your growth management

First they will stack and pack us in mixed use towers in Town Center, all in the name of the Agenda 21 euphemism, Growth Management. Only after that mission is accomplished will they proceed to trot out the ‘research’ on the effects of second-hand smoke in apartment buildings, which they will use to justify an ordinance for ‘tobacco-free high-density housing’. They have 2 Visions for 2029: the one they let us see, and the one they don’t.

Clallum County and Sequim withdraw from ICLEI!

Posted by

Great news from the Penninsula! Way to go FourC!

PORT ANGELES — Clallam County is cutting ties with ICLEI — the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.

Since 2007, the county has spent $1,200 per year on membership dues to the association of more than 1,000 local governments that is “committed to sustainable development,” according to www.iclei.org.

With the membership, the county receives reading materials from ICLEI that show what other cities and counties are doing to reduce energy consumption and help the environment.

Its critics said it violates the Constitution, threatens individual liberty and promotes the United Nations Agenda 21, a global action plan for sustainability.

The county’s membership with ICLEI is set to expire at the end of December.

Sequim City Manager Steve Burkett has said the city’s membership with ICLEI expired in September and will not be renewed.
