Great news from the Penninsula! Way to go FourC!
PORT ANGELES — Clallam County is cutting ties with ICLEI — the International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives.
Since 2007, the county has spent $1,200 per year on membership dues to the association of more than 1,000 local governments that is “committed to sustainable development,” according to www.iclei.org.
With the membership, the county receives reading materials from ICLEI that show what other cities and counties are doing to reduce energy consumption and help the environment.
Its critics said it violates the Constitution, threatens individual liberty and promotes the United Nations Agenda 21, a global action plan for sustainability.
The county’s membership with ICLEI is set to expire at the end of December.
Sequim City Manager Steve Burkett has said the city’s membership with ICLEI expired in September and will not be renewed.
Icebergs are disappearing…
The Washington Post, November 2, 1922:
The Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the water too hot, according to a report to the Commerce Department yesterday from Consulafft, at Bergen, Norway . Read more »
Two years ago, the Obama administration practically staged an airlift of leading Democratic officials to the UN climate conference in Copenhagen. Barack Obama himself made an appearance, as did Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, and even Republican Senator Jim Inhofe, who went to represent the AGW skeptics and demand answers to the then-breaking Climategate scandal. In the end, Obama could only produce a non-binding agreement that even he didn’t agree to sign, while domestic support for climate-change policy collapsed underneath him.Fast forward two years. We have Climategate 2.0 accompanying another UN conference on climate change, this time in Durban. The one big difference? The White House has completely ignored it. Senator Inhofe sends his greetings to the Durban conference and gleefully points out that they have become irrelevant.
IER Board Member, Steven Hayward, exposes how US energy policies have restricted access to America’s vast energy resources. The result? America is less competitive in the world, energy prices are skyrocketing, and the economy is suffering. The United States must open federal lands to exploration and end the regulatory blockade that keeps shale oil and gas out of our reach. Florida rejects GMA
Hat tip to Tom J! Great news!
FYI, Florida repealed its Growth Management Act this year. A citizen reacts:

It seems to me the current sour economy presents an ideal opportunity to destroy ICLEI. Florida Governor Scott apparently thought so. The GMA is Agenda 21 in a bun, IMHO.
Climategate 2
Hat tip to Michael at PSCU:
I suspect many of you have heard of another release of emails (just more from the same timeframe as before — up to and including 2009) between the main proponents of the climate warming hysteria, but if you haven’t it is easy to get caught up-to-date. Go to this website. Not only does it supply a searchable database of the emails, but also has links to commentaries and analyses by various bloggers and journalists. One teaser: Some of these so-called objective scientists believe they are in a “cause” they need to defend. Of course, their answer is always more government run by the ever so brilliant elitists who just brought down the world economy. We weren’t dazzled by their brilliance; rather, we have been baffled (hoodwinked) by their BS. And now we are all paying the price.

Meeting: UN Agenda 21
Thursday, September 15, 2011
6:30—9:00 PM — Innis Arden Clubhouse
Shoreline Caucus Presents:
Agenda 21 (aka ‘Sustainable Development’ aka ‘Smart Growth’)
Although it sounds like science fiction, it isn’t. It’s neither liberal nor conservative, but about constitutional rights (including private property rights) being usurped by UN policies supported by both Bushes, Clinton and Obama. It has embedded itself locally as ICLEI (International Council for Local Environmental Initiatives) and is firmly entrenched in local government including the City of Shoreline.
Agenda 21 is the framework for a completely new paradigm in the 21st Century. It is the outcome of the 1992 United Nation’s Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro. It outlines in detail the UN’s vision for a centrally managed global society. You don’t have to worry about your future because Agenda 21 has a plan for how you will live, where you will live, how you commute, what you will eat, what you will learn.
Presented by Sharon Hanek who is an accountant, community volunteer, wife, and mother who has been involved in politics as a private citizen. Over the past six years she has spent many hours in Olympia during session testifying on bills and discussing issues with legislators from both sides of the aisle.
