32nd District Candidate Forum, Thursday, July 19th

Posted by

Join the Shoreline Caucus for its 32nd District Candidate Forum on Thursday evening, July 19th, at 7 PM, and please consider coming early for refreshments and conversation at 6:30 PM.  The forum will be held at the:

Shoreline-Lake Forest Park Senior Center
18560-1st Ave. N.E.
Shoreline, 98155
In the dining room

SPU Acquisition Presentation:

Before the forum begins, you’ll hear a short presentation from Dan Thwing about Shoreline’s plan for the “SPU Acquisition”, the City of Shoreline’s plan to purchase the water system from Seattle Public Utilities.  The cost will be roughly $52 million – $90 million, plus an additional $14 million for capital construction, paid for by a revenue bond and seen by residents as an increase in their water bills.  There will be a vote on this project in November, and it would be wise to become knowledgeable about this project in advance – some feel the project is mis-guided, and not an effective use of taxpayer funds.

Following that presentation, the evening will be devoted to a candidate forum for Washington State Representative Candidates in the 32nd District

  • Randy Hayden for Position 1, running against Cindy Ryu
  • Eric Alvey and Bob Reedy for Position 2, running against Ruth Kagi

The presidential race gets all the media attention, but we need to carefully choose our local representatives as well.  Washington State is facing serious economic challenges, and the Washington State House and Senate are the ones who oversee our economic and regulatory environment.  In your opinion, is Washington State on the right track?  If you’d like an opportunity to meet and speak to candidates running for office in the 32nd district, please join us for this informative and enjoyable evening.
